RPL Process

We recognise that our students may have studied previously or have significant work experience in a particular field. If so, you may be eligible for credit towards a new course, allowing you to finish your study sooner.

The RPL Process

Step 1: Complete Your Free Skills Assessment

Step 2: Complete the RPL Application Form & Provide Evidence

  • Employment contracts
  • Employer/manager references
  • Work samples (e.g., videos, photos, reports, or portfolios)
  • Resume

Step 3: Evidence Assessment

  • RPL Granted: Qualification is awarded.
  • GAP Training Required: Additional learning is necessary for specific units.
  • RPL Rejected: Application for RPL is not successful.

Step 4: Qualification Granted

What is GAP Training?

GAP Training involves completing learning and assessment for units where RPL is not granted. This is usually done online through our e-learning portal.

How Much Does RPL Cost?

The cost for RPL is equivalent to the course fees of the qualification you are pursuing. Payment is divided into two parts:

  1. RPL Application Fee: $250 (non-refundable).
  2. Qualification Fee: The remaining balance after deducting the application fee.
    • Example: If the course fee is $895, you’ll pay $250 for the application and $645 upon qualification approval.

If your application is unsuccessful, you won’t be required to pay the Qualification Fee.

Benefits of RPL

  • Save Time: Fast-track your qualification.
  • No Classes: Skip additional training for skills you already possess.
  • Avoid Redundancy: Eliminate repeating training you’ve already completed.
  • Quick & Easy: Achieve a qualification efficiently.
  • Career Opportunities: Open new pathways with a Nationally Recognised Qualification.
  • Meet Standards: Ensure compliance with industry and licensing requirements.
  • Flexible Timeline: The process typically takes up to 6 weeks.

With Stellar Institute, the RPL process is designed to be supportive, transparent, and tailored to recognize your achievements and help you advance your career.

FAQ

Are there assessments or exams in the course?

When you fill out the application form, you will find the Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test. You may access the application forms any time by going to the Courses page.

We have partnered with several facilities to provide the best placement experience to our students. Students are required to fill out an application form and the facilities then confirm if they are able to accept the student. Apex does not assign a facility to a student but supports and helps them with their application to the facility they want to join. Students are allowed to find placement facilities outside of the ones that Apex has partnered with if there is a specific preference.

Certificates are given to all students that complete their course work. This includes in class assignments as well as placements. Upon completion, the trainers review all of the assigned work and placement workbooks and if they are satisfactory, a certificate is then issued within 3 weeks of completion.

You most certainly can. There are a number of things that can be done to reduce the amount of time and units you need to study, including:

  • Recognition of prior learning – this process recognises previous work experience, previous formal and informal education among other things.
  • Recognition of statements of attainments issued by other RTOs – known as credit transfers; and,
  • Recognition of qualifications issued by other RTOs – also known as credit transfers.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience you’ve gained through formal, informal, or non-formal learning. The aim is to determine how well these competencies meet the requirements specified in training packages or VET-accredited courses.
